It took me a while to discover that my kids were not going to learn any geography in school. About the time my 10 year old asked me what the capital of London was, I started shopping for maps.

Because the world changes so rapidly now, I decided to order maps large enough for a 6 and 10 year old to look at and comprehend, but cheap enough to be replaced once the borders of various countries are re-done.

The positives – this map is correct, it’s large (we tacked them up in the hallway to the kids’ rooms) and it’s very colorful, which is good for 6 year olds.

The negatives – it’s not laminated, now if I was buying this for myself that would be fine, but the paper is also some strange form of paper that attracts and holds small sticky fingerprints. Being maps, little fingers are naturally attracted like magnets.

If you are making the purchase for an adult or a classroom, or if you intend to frame it, then I highly recommend this map. If you are buying for little ones, I’d spend the extra money to get a laminated version.

One last note – if you purchase from Amazon, they are not particularly well packed. They put them in a tube that is too large for the map so it bangs around and the ends get a bit bent up. Also they don’t tape the ends of the tube so I had to have a second one sent after my first tube arrived empty and without ends on it.

I bought this map on a whim after almost deciding on a model that would have cost ten times as much…with the same dimensions. I received the map, unrolled it and found very clear labels, bold colors, and an over-all pleasing appearance.

I only wish it were laminated

This map will definitely serve my purposes.

I purchased this and the “World Map” together from Amazon, since they are made by the same company on the same material, much of my review will be the same:

I have this map displayed in my cubicle at work and it has proved to be a great reference and conversation piece. It’s a good size and very colorful. I especially like that it came rolled in a tube instead of folded. It’s easy to read and just interesting to look at. People stop by my desk often to talk about where they have been and where they’d like to go and ask me the same. It’s a good way to brush up on U.S. geography at any age!

I bought this world map for my 4 year old son. He was always asking where things are? Where do elephants live, etc. It is beautiful. He loves it! A great intro to geography. The only thing is, it’s BIG! 50×32. No-way can you frame it. But, a frame isnt mandatory for my use. You will not be disappointed with this world map.

I’m very pleased with my map, but I would like to mention that you can purchase a laminated one for just a few dollars more. I bought my map and then took it to staples to have it laminated, for the price I paid I could have bought the laminated map too, and still saved money. But the map is great, now I can look at places when I see them on tv or they come up in conversation.

Good poster, good customer service, & fast delivery. Only negative I’d give is that packaging got a little bent in USPS and hence, the poster got some creases. I’m satisfied overall.

This is a laminate in the sense that it is not just plain paper, but not laminated in the way most people consider. The map is not the standard piece of paper that has been taken to Kinkos and had nice thick plastic heated on both sides. Instead it is some sort of paper/plastic material. I purchased this to be able to mark on it with a dry erase marker and then erase and mark other things. As of yet I have not marked on it because I am afraid it will not come off since it is not laminated like normal. I guess this is why it is cheaper than some other “laminated” maps. It is still a good looking map and seems pretty durable.

The map is great but the “Lamination” is very cheap and flimsy. It gets the job done but I’m going to be careful in the future and make sure I buy a map that is more durable, Sturdy and actually laminated and not thin “Plastic-ish” paper.

Great Product, updated to reflect recent geopolitical changes. However, the box that AMZN shipped the rolled up map in broke in half while in UPS’s possession, crumpling up the rolled up map completely. In true form to AMZN’s great service, a replacement was sent along as a return postage for the damaged map. Unfortunately, the replacement was sent in the same exact type of packaging and broke in UPS’s possession again! The second time, the damage was not nearly as bad, leaving only one small crease in the map, so I decided to just keep it. AMZN should probably change it’s practice of using standard shipping tubes instead of long triangular boxes that can break fairly easily in shipper’s hands.

This is a pretty nice map for the price. It’s thinner than I expected and it has plastic strips across the top and bottom to give it some rigidity. The “lamination” is more like a plastic coating than what I would expect after reading “laminated map.” Overall, I think its great for less than shipped. Delivery was very fast and it came in a triangular shipping tube. The map itself was only protected inside this tube by plastic wrap…so it bounced around during shipping causing some slight crinkles at the edges, but the map arrived in reasonably good shape. If the map were enclosed in a tighter fitting plastic tube, which was then put in the shipping container, there would be zero damage during shipment. Oh well. Its still worth the price.

We purchased both the world and USA maps to hang in the kids’ playroom and they were a really great purchase; quite large, very strong and laminated so we can draw out our trips in dry erase markers which the kids just love to do. It was very important to me to find laminated for this purpose and most were VERY expensive – these were dirt cheap by comparison and we are quite impressed with the quality so far. We wanted something to help teach our kids geography both world & USA (as well as help us remember what we have forgotten from school)and so far these maps have been educational & fun. The kids cannot wait until the next season of The Amazing Race begins (which is what prompted me to purchase these maps in the first place), so we can map out the teams’ route and visually “see” where they are traveling. The only problem we have had is that the USA map arrived quite mangled and could not be hung flat on a wall. Amazon customer service couldn’t have been nicer. They sent us an immediate replacement and paid for us to return the damaged one.

What’s so exciting about MAP is that it’s easy to learn and it’s free. There are no workshops to take, you can do it yourself, that means you don’t have to find a practitioner who works with energy, and that means you don’t have to pay a practitioner for weekly visits. Everything is right here in this book, and rarely have I found a book of this type that is so well written and clearly organized. The first few chapters give you an explanation of the process and the steps for a MAP session, so you can read about 50 pages and get started right away. After that, she goes into a deeper explanation of what happens in a session, then the rest of the book is devoted to specialized topics that you can read as you need them, such as surrogate sessions, calibration, MAP for animals, flower essences, and kinesiology, plus a few others. Basically, MAP is a medical program where you work with energy beings (my term, not hers) and nature intelligences. In your first session you’ll assemble a team that will be your specific team for as long as you use MAP. Machaelle describes it like this: “MAP is a physical program that works on your well-being from the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual perspective…..it works on strains, pressures, pain, and conflict felt on all these levels simultaneously.” It takes a commitment to keep doing MAP, but it’s not hard to learn. She suggests twice a week sessions at first, then once a week (each session takes under an hour) and she suggests you stick with it for five months before evaluating whether it’s working for you. I could not believe my good fortune when I first learned about MAP. I am grateful to Machaelle for putting this kind of information in the hands of anyone who is interested in using it, so that we can all have the tools to improve our lives.Whether or not you’re familiar with Machaelle’s other books and her work at Perelandra, you’ll get a lot out of this book. This was my introduction to her work, and from here I went on to learn about her work with gardens and nature.

I came to MAP over four years ago and have used the program regularly ever since. There is nothing mysterious or complicated about it. You need not use the Perelandra essences (as another reviewer said), that is stated clearly in the book. You need not even believe in it. I know how skeptical one can be about such things that don’t fit neatly into our belief system. I had a very rare and agressive cancer, few people survive it. With the assistance of MAP and my willingness to address my issues, I am today completely cancer-free and healthy. MAP is a holistic program that recognizes the effects of imbalance on health and maintains the balance of all of our bodies: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. The program is useful for such common maladies as headaches, colds, allergies. Nothing is too large or small to bring to MAP. It is empowering as well, and puts your health in your hands. Other than the cost of the book.. it’s free… no appointments to make… no driving… You can set your own schedule and do this in the privacy of your home. MAP will work in conjunction with any other medical modality, so there’s no need to discard the treatments you may already be involved in (ie: doctors, acupuncture, reiki, homeopathy). I advise anyone with health issues, major or minor or anyone interested in maintaining their health to investigate MAP.
